Cornea Collection Center (Eye Donation Center)

Our Eye Donation Center was established in January 1997 with the mission of promoting eye donation and enabling sight restoration for those affected by corneal blindness. Since its inception, the center has been functioning in collaboration with Ramayamma International Eye Bank (RIEB), Hyderabad, one of India’s leading and most trusted eye banks. Through this partnership, we ensure that every donated cornea is collected, preserved, and utilized with the highest medical and ethical standards.

To strengthen our operational efficiency, we work in partnership with Netra Dana Prothsahaka Sangam, as well as several volunteers and NGOs, who actively support the awareness and collection process. Their involvement has been instrumental in expanding Corneal Collection awareness and encouraging more families to pledge eye donation.

Over the years, we have collected 4,263 corneas from 2,139 donors, significantly contributing to sight-restoration surgeries for individuals across the region. We operate a dedicated 24-hour cornea retrieval system, supported by a specialized vehicle and trained staff available round the clock to respond promptly to donor families.

All collected corneas are transported to RIEB, Hyderabad, for scientific evaluation, processing, and allocation for transplantation. Alongside collection services, we regularly conduct awareness and education campaigns to motivate the public to understand the value of eye donation and participate in this noble humanitarian act.

Our Eye Donation Center remains committed to giving the gift of sight and building a community that supports and values the life-enhancing impact of eye donation.
