Glaucoma Services

The Glaucoma Services at Smt. Rajeswari Ramakrishnan Lions Eye Hospital (SRRLEH) focus on the early detection, accurate diagnosis, and medical management of glaucoma, a chronic eye disease that can lead to irreversible vision loss if not identified and treated in time.

Glaucoma is often referred to as the “silent thief of sight” because vision loss usually occurs gradually and without early symptoms. Regular eye examinations are essential, especially for individuals above 40 years of age or those with diabetes, hypertension, or a family history of glaucoma.

Medical Management of Glaucoma :

At present, SRRLEH provides medical (non-surgical) management of glaucoma, which includes:

  • Diagnosis and classification of glaucoma
  • Control of intraocular pressure using eye drops
  • Long-term monitoring of disease progression
  • Patient education and compliance counselling
  • Timely referral for surgical intervention when required

Our goal is to preserve existing vision and prevent further damage to the optic nerve.
