Vision Centers with Tele Ophthalmology
The first Vision Center of L.V. Prasad Eye Institute was launched in collaboration with our hospital on 2 December 2002 at Chagallu. This was the first Vision Center in the combined state of Andhra Pradesh (before bifurcation), marking a historic milestone in community eye care.
Building on this model, we now operate three Vision Centers, and the Lions Clubs International Foundation has sanctioned ten additional Vision Centers equipped with full Tele-ophthalmology capability. These centers are being strategically established in rural and underserved areas to ensure that comprehensive eye care is made accessible to every community.
With Tele-ophthalmology, nearly 90% of eye care services can be delivered directly at the patient’s doorstep through real-time consultations, remote diagnostics, and continuity of care. This approach ensures that Vision Centers remain accessible, affordable, and aligned with the universal health care concept, bringing high-quality ophthalmic care closer to those who need it most.
